WOODBRIDGE — Five years ago, Lochlin Reidy, who was 58 at the time, was enjoying his life as a retiree and looking forward to a sailing trip to Bermuda with his good friend, Captain Tom Tighe.
Five people aboard Tighe’s boat the Almeisan set sail from Captain’s Cove, Bridgeport on May 3, 2005 for what was to be a relaxing trip.
But four days later, at 3 o’clock in the morning, their lives changed forever when an enormous wave threw Reidy and the captain off the 45-foot-long sailboat into the Atlantic Ocean.

A new book "Overboard" was released this week. It tells the story of a terrible storm that tossed boats around like rubber ducks and changed a Woodbridge man's life forever as he was thrown into the ocean with the captain of the sailboat.
Five years ago, just days after he returned to his home, Lochlin Reidy shared his story with the Observer.Page 1 of 5
