Updated Friday, 5:15 p.m.: Gerardo Lombardi was convicted Friday of first degree manslaughter with a firearm in the death of his former daughter-in-law, Alison McKnight, a lesser crime than prosecutors had been seeking.
Mr. Lombardi, 77, had been charged with murder in the Sept. 4, 2008 death of Ms. McKnight. Police testified in the trial that they found Mr. Lombardi in the backyard of property Ms. McKnight owned holding a gun and a knife. Ms. Lombardi, who had been married to Mr. Lombardi’s son Joseph for 30 years before their 2008 divorce, suffered three gunshot wounds and up to 49 cuts and stabs on her body in the attack.

School officials announce that school will open again on Monday and buses will run a regular schedule.
The Greenwich Police Department has advised that some debris may remain on walks to school or to bus stops. School officials advise parents to walk with their children this weekend on a ‘dry run’ of the path that they take to school or to the bus stop to ensure that they have safe passage - to avoid any debris that may still exist - or - to plan an alternate route if necessary. Parents are asked to advise children not to play in or around piles ofdebris and to continue to avoid any downed wires.Page 1 of 11
