If the Stratford High boys basketball team wants to bring the Class L state championship trophy home with it from the Mohegan Sun Arena, coach Paul Dudzinski’s cagers will have to play as well in their final game of the season as they did in the opener back on Dec. 16.
And against the same opponent.
Second-seeded New London, which played host to top-seeded Stratford to open the season, and suffered its only loss of the campaign in the process, is the only thing standing in the way of the Red Devils winning their second state title in three years.

The Stratford High boys basketball team knows it has a target on its back after turning in its second straight undefeated regular season.
But unlike last season, when the Red Devils were knocked off in both the South-West Conference and state tournaments, Stratford is taking care of business so far in the 2009-10 SWC tournament.
The Red Devils, the top-seed in the league playoffs, fought off eighth-seeded Notre Dame-Fairfield on Saturday and fourth-seeded Masuk on Tuesday night with a pair of 11-point victories to make it to Thursday night’s SWC championship game against third-seeded Newtown at Strong Gymnasium in Monroe.Page 1 of 2
